CCO in partnership with its national network, PICO, and the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph is working to bring the diverse experiences of immigration together and telling the stories of immigrants in Kansas City to build stronger, more just relationships and fix our broken immigration system. CCO believes that all people should be treated humanely. In order to fulfill this principle we believe that our broken immigration system should be fixed through:

  • Providing for the security and safety of our nation, and protecting the fundamental rights of all.

  • Preventing families from being split apart by deportation.

  • Including avenues for immigrant integration into US society such as language instruction and community service programs.

  • Including opportunities for undocumented students to earn their college degree at public universities by granting them in-state tuition as described in the DREAM Act.

  • Including job protections for US and immigrant workers.
